Natural Hazard Modelling
ecorisQ develops models (e.g. Rockyfor3D; see animation, 600 kB) that produce trajectories, runout zones and kinematics of falling rocks, avalanches and landslides.
Hazard and Risk Assessment
Members of ecorisQ have extensive experience in assessing rockfall, landslide and avalanche hazards and calculating resulting risks, taking into account existing protective measures (e.g., nets, forests). The basic working method is always based on field expertise and modelling techniques.
High resolution forest mapping
ecorisQ has the capacity to map individual trees and create forest stand maps, as well as the accompanying characterstics, on the basis of high resolution Digital Surface Models and Digital Elevation Models (e.g., derived from LiDAR/laserscanning data).
Protection Forest Assessment
ecorisQ developes methods for quantifying the protective effect of forests against avalanches, landslides and rockfall. One example is RockForNET.
Pilot Projects in Protection Forest Management
ecorisQ can plan and carry out silvicultural projects to improve protective function of forests based on latest experiental and scientific knowledge.
Knowledge Transfer
ecorisQ promotes (international) exchange of knowledge and experiences by organising meetings, training days, excursions and distributing publications related to rockfall, landslides, avalanches and protection forests.
